Fishing

The contrast between the white jacket the fisherman was wearing to ward off the sun, the sand, the sea and the sky just immediately jumped out at me as I walked past. This shot stood out for me as his pose breaks up the horizontal lines given by the shore and the skyline.

Riverbank

The shutter speed was far too long for hand holding here and I'm not super sure what if anything I was focused on but somehow I really like the atmosphere here and the abstracted effect of the lines of light.

Passenger

My neghbour's child had left their stuffed owl in the bottle carrier of their bike in the stairwell, I had a roll of Delta 3200 to test in low light situations and thus this photo. It's a very grainy film and the lens must've been wide open which adds a certain atmosphere, as does the fact that all the light on the scene is falling on that bike and it's passenger.

Come Into the Light

This is the Apple Store in Portland, OR on a rainy night. The lights and their reflections on the sidewalk contrast well with the clean, bright and dry interior of the store.

Studio Space

This was near the Lomography store in Hong Kong (I'd managed to run out of film during my last trip there). I glanced down this alley and saw a couple of different groups of people doing photoshoots there, of all the picturesque alleys in Hong Kong. What I really love about the scene is the way it shows both the verticaliity of the city and the lived in nature and atmosphere of the place.

Bridge and tree

This is basically just a snapshot taken with my Trip 35 on a winter trip to Prague but it worked really well I feel - I enjoy the range of tones and contrast, not to mention the detail that the lens in the Trip 35 gives. 

Under The Bridge

Walking by the river in Portland, Oregon last year on a dull, overcast day I was a bit disappointed with the grey light. Then I turned back and saw this teddy bear that'd been dropped down by the side of the walkway right next to a bottle, poor thing. 

There's not a huge amount going on here, a square crop since the rest of the frame is pretty much just more of the same with not much else going on, a bit of a leading line with the walkway and a bunch of atmosphere from the scene.
